Newly-built apartment building in Prague
Ing. arch. Radek Sládeček
"My clients approached me with a request to design the interior of a duplex apartment in a high-standard development project. Thanks to the developer's helpfulness, many modifications beyond the client's changes were able to take place and thus almost no compromises had to be made in the execution. In this spirit, a JAP staircase was used, with a tailored railing design.
I had no previous experience with JAP, and the relatively high price initially put me off. However, in the developer's design, the staircase was inserted between two walls; the hall was originally designed with built-in cabinets, so the staircase would have been hardly visible. In the revised design, the staircase is an acknowledged, distinctive and important design element. The design of the staircase was very important for the clients, so they agreed to a higher price. Also, no other contractor was able to provide the required design in a combination of a self-supporting staircase and a tubular handrail without additional visible reinforcing/anchoring elements.
Both the preparation of the design documentation and the actual execution went perfectly. I was personally surprised by the sophistication and precision of the steel structure and the wooden cladding. In spite of the considerable dimensions of the railing, all in one piece, it was possible to put it into the apartment in one piece and therefore no additional joints were required. I find the work of all the team members as well as the overall result highly professional. The staircase is a first-class product with perfectly executed details; it is a pleasure to walk on it. I can highly recommend JAP to even the most demanding clients."
